Many of us know the situation. Global biodiversity, the rich variety of plant and animal life on our planet, has declined by a staggering 70% over the past 50 years. The finger points squarely at us — from climate change, to ecosystem degradation, habitat loss, deforestation, and over-exploitation. This decline has massive social and economic consequences — from agricultural decline and the collapse of food systems, to the loss of sources of medical innovation, to larger and more frequent disasters as climate change accelerates.
Business leaders are aware of these risks but many are unclear on how they are supposed to act. How can companies place the enhancement of biodiversity within their core decision-making structures, and what are the benefits of doing so for their business performance?
In this panel event, we go beyond the WHY of biodiversity to the HOW. With panellists at the forefront of corporate biodiversity development, we explore what companies are doing to build biodiversity strategies within their organisations, and what they are seeing as the tangible, positive business impact today and tomorrow.
